Brain Damage | Pedestrian / Auto Collision

While walking home from an office Christmas party, a young lady was struck by a car, causing her to hit her head when she landed on the street pavement. She lived just a few blocks from the restaurant where the firm’s Christmas party that year was being held. The weather was nice,  and it was not quite dark, so she decided to stroll home. When she entered the marked crosswalk with the green right-of-way arrow, she was struck by a vehicle that had failed to observe the light. The driver had completely failed to see her. The impact filled her over the hood of the car, had she had her head on the pavement when she landed. Though dazed, she did not suffer a loss of consciousness and was later discharged from the emergency room, where she was told she had suffered no serious injury. The next day, she began to experience severe headaches and slowed thinking with memory deficits and returned to the ER, where she was then diagnosed with a concussion. Her concussion never fully resolved, and she went on to develop Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) with numerous debilitating symptoms. It is worth noting that all of her post-accident imaging (CT Scans and MRIs) was negative. Her type of brain injury does not show up on CT Scans/MRIs.
